Woodridge, IL – Following the destructive weather in Northern Illinois, the Woodridge Police Department cautions residents against unpermitted contractors. In response to the 11 tornadoes and damaging hailstorm across Illinois, numerous contractors have flocked to the area, offering roofing and siding repairs. The Village of Woodridge requires these contractors to obtain a solicitation permit before approaching homes for business.

According to the Woodridge Police, residents should be vigilant and request to see the solicitation permit from any contractor who comes to their door. This measure is to ensure that all work is carried out legally and to a professional standard. The police department has made it clear that individuals should not engage with or allow contractors without the appropriate permits to conduct any work. Instead, they should immediately contact the authorities.

This enforcement comes as part of efforts to protect residents from potential fraud or substandard repair work in the aftermath of the severe storms. The Village’s ordinance requires that such permits are visibly displayed by all solicitors. As the community recovers, the police are actively working to ensure that only certified and legally compliant contractors are operating, thus safeguarding the interests of homeowners.
