Parkersburg, WV – A commercial truck crash early Thursday morning is causing traffic disruptions along U.S. Route 50 in Wood County, with at least one lane of traffic as crews continue cleanup efforts.

According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, first responders were dispatched around 8:21 a.m. to the 6-mile marker on eastbound U.S. 50 for a single-vehicle crash involving a commercial truck. Authorities say the truck overturned, spilling a load of non-hazardous material across the roadway and forcing a temporary closure of the main travel lanes.

Emergency crews responded quickly to secure the scene and begin assessing the situation. While the roadway has partially reopened, one lane remains closed as cleanup operations continue. Motorists traveling through the area are advised to use caution and expect delays throughout the morning and possibly into the afternoon.

Officials identified the driver as Ryan Patrick Wole of Parkersburg. He was not injured in the crash, and no additional injuries have been reported.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. However, authorities believe speed and a possible shift in the trailer’s load may have been contributing factors.

Multiple agencies assisted in the response, including the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, West Virginia Division of Highways, Public Service Commission, and several local fire departments, along with a towing company handling vehicle removal.

Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes if possible and remain alert for emergency personnel working in the area.
