Green Bay, WI – A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for large portions of northern and central Wisconsin, with mixed precipitation, snow, and ice set to impact road conditions through Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service, the advisory will remain active until 1 p.m. CDT on April 2 for counties including Vilas, Forest, Florence, Marinette, Oconto, Shawano, and Waupaca. Snow accumulations ranging from 1 to 5 inches are expected, with ice accumulations of up to a tenth of an inch and wind gusts reaching as high as 40 mph in some areas. These hazardous conditions are likely to affect morning commutes and could cause additional tree damage and power outages.

The areas affected by the advisory span from the Northwoods, including cities such as Rhinelander, Antigo, and Eagle River, to central regions like Wausau, Marshfield, and Stevens Point. Drivers are advised to use caution, slow down, and check road conditions by calling 511 before traveling.

The National Weather Service warns that further snow and ice could lead to hazardous travel conditions and potential delays. Those in impacted areas should prepare for winter-like conditions despite the calendar indicating spring.
