Wisconsin Weather: Thunderstorms Possible for Fourth of July

Green Bay, WI – The National Weather Service has issued a weather alert for central Wisconsin, with thunderstorms expected to disrupt Fourth of July celebrations.

According to the US National Weather Service in Green Bay, two periods of hazardous weather are anticipated. The first is from Monday night through Tuesday night, with the second arriving late on July 4th. These periods will bring showers and storms, with locally heavy rainfall between 1 to 2 inches possible. Additionally, rip currents may affect Lake Michigan beaches, posing a risk for beachgoers.

For Sunday, high pressure will bring sunny and comfortable conditions, with temperatures ranging from 68 to 74 degrees. Monday will see increasing clouds, with temperatures between 69 and 77 degrees. Rain and thunderstorms are expected to start Monday night and continue into Tuesday, where temperatures will hover between 68 and 75 degrees. By Wednesday, the weather will clear up, offering mostly sunny skies and temperatures from 77 to 84 degrees. However, Thursday could see another round of storms late in the day, with temperatures between 77 and 83 degrees.

A Small Craft Advisory has also been issued for Green Bay and Lake Michigan, in effect until 9 a.m. Sunday, due to gusty northwest winds and waves ranging from 2 to 5 feet. Boaters are advised to exercise caution.
