La Crosse, WI – Cooler, steady winter weather will dominate the midweek forecast before light snow is expected to move through Thursday night. A mild warm-up will follow as temperatures climb closer to freezing by the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will stay near normal for January, ranging from the low teens to the mid-20s. Mostly sunny skies are expected Wednesday, with a high near 18°F. Calm winds will make conditions tolerable for outdoor activities. However, residents should remain cautious as snow is forecast to begin late Thursday night and linger into Friday morning.

A 30% chance of snow is expected after midnight Thursday, potentially impacting early Friday travel, especially along Highway 53. Drivers should plan for reduced visibility and slippery roads during this period. Friday’s high will reach 27°F, marking the start of a brief warm-up that will continue through Saturday.

Looking ahead, the weekend will bring partly sunny skies and highs around 27°F on Saturday, though colder conditions will return Sunday night, with lows dropping to around 15°F.

Residents are encouraged to monitor weather updates for any changes to snow timing and totals. Keep vehicles winter-ready and drive cautiously during snow events.
