La Crosse, WI – Breezy conditions and unseasonably warm temperatures will persist across Wisconsin today and Sunday before significant rain arrives Monday. Residents should prepare for gusts up to 35 mph this weekend, especially near the Mississippi River.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures today will reach a high near 54°F under partly sunny skies. Winds will remain steady from the south-southeast at 10 to 16 mph, with gusts up to 29 mph. Tonight, there’s a 30% chance of light showers after sunset, particularly in central counties like West Salem.

Sunday will continue the warming trend, with highs near 55°F and calmer winds from the west at 6 to 10 mph. Overnight lows are expected to dip to 31°F under clear skies.

Rain becomes more widespread Monday, with an 80% chance of showers beginning early. Southeast winds will strengthen, with gusts near 24 mph. Rainfall totals could exceed 1.5 inches by Monday night, leading to wet roads and potential ponding in low-lying areas.

Looking ahead, Tuesday will remain rainy in the morning, tapering off by afternoon as cooler air sweeps in. Highs will hover around 50°F. By Wednesday, expect temperatures to drop to the mid-40s, with lingering light showers and gusty northwest winds.

Travelers along major routes, such as Highway 14 and I-90, should remain cautious during periods of heavy rain and wind. Now is the time to secure loose outdoor objects and prepare for slick road conditions early next week.
