Green Bay, WI – Severe weather is on the horizon for Wisconsin as multiple rounds of thunderstorms are expected to move across the state beginning Monday evening. The first wave of storms has the potential to be significant, with forecasters warning of a “boom or bust” scenario.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Green Bay, a strong “cap” in the atmosphere could either suppress storm development or, if it breaks, lead to scattered to widespread severe thunderstorms. These storms may bring damaging winds, large hail, and locally heavy rainfall. The best chance for severe storms will be across central and northern Wisconsin.
Monday night’s storms could intensify as they move eastward from Iowa and Minnesota, continuing into Tuesday morning. The NWS advises residents to stay updated on the latest forecasts and to have multiple ways to receive weather alerts, especially during the overnight hours.
Tuesday’s forecast shows a 50% chance of thunderstorms, with temperatures reaching a high of 87°F. Conditions are expected to improve by Wednesday, with a cooler high of 65°F and clearing skies. The rest of the week looks mild and sunny, providing some relief after the potential storms.
