Milwaukee, Wisconsin – Drivers across southern Wisconsin could encounter sudden slick spots and reduced visibility during the Friday evening commute as scattered snow showers develop.
According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan, pop-up snow showers are possible Friday afternoon into the evening, especially along a line from Wisconsin Dells to Lake Geneva, including Madison and Milwaukee. These fast-moving bursts may briefly reduce visibility to 1 mile or less.
While snowfall amounts will remain light, the quick nature of these showers could lead to rapidly changing road conditions, particularly on untreated surfaces. Slick spots may develop with little warning during heavier bursts.
Cities including Janesville, Waukesha, and Racine could see brief impacts as showers pass through, especially during peak travel hours. The snow may struggle to develop in some areas due to dry air, but any showers that do form could create short-term hazards.
Drivers are urged to slow down and remain alert for sudden visibility drops. Conditions will improve later Friday night, but additional updates may be issued if snow coverage becomes more widespread.
