Wisconsin Weather Alert: Showers and Thunderstorms After 4 p.m. Friday — Weekend Rain Likely in La Crosse

La Crosse, Wisconsin – Storms will likely interrupt the start of the weekend in western Wisconsin as rain and thunder move into the La Crosse area Friday afternoon, with additional waves expected Saturday and Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service in La Crosse, a slight chance of showers develops after 4 p.m. Friday, with scattered thunderstorms more likely after 7 p.m. The chance of precipitation increases into Saturday night, where showers become more widespread with rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch expected. Drivers on US-14 and local roads should stay alert for slick conditions, especially after dark.

Saturday brings a renewed chance of thunderstorms, mainly after 10 a.m., with a high near 75°F. The heaviest rain is expected Saturday night, with a 60% chance of showers continuing into early Sunday. Those heading outdoors for weekend events should have alternate indoor plans ready.

Sunday’s high reaches 73°F under partly sunny skies, but scattered storms remain possible through the evening. By Monday, the system begins to exit, though another round of thunderstorms may return after 1 p.m., especially near the Mississippi River Valley.

Temperatures will moderate into the low 70s by early next week. Clearer skies and drier conditions are likely by Tuesday, with highs near 75°F and sunshine returning by Wednesday.
