Green Bay, Wis. – A widespread round of rain will overspread much of Wisconsin Friday and continue into Saturday, bringing periods of showers and a few thunderstorms before drier, more comfortable weather returns to the region by Sunday. While lightning is possible in some storms, severe weather is not expected.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, showers will expand across northeast Wisconsin Friday and persist into the overnight hours before lingering across central and east-central Wisconsin through much of Saturday. A few thunderstorms may develop at times, but the overall threat for damaging winds, large hail or tornadoes remains low.

Communities including Green Bay, Appleton, Oshkosh, Fond du Lac, Wausau, Stevens Point, Manitowoc and Sheboygan can expect periods of wet weather that may slow travel and outdoor activities. High temperatures will remain comfortable, ranging from 75 to 82 degrees Friday and 74 to 81 degrees Saturday.

Motorists should be prepared for reduced visibility during heavier showers and allow extra travel time on wet roads. Anyone spending time outdoors should move inside if thunder is heard, even though widespread severe weather is not anticipated.

The weather improves significantly by Sunday, with sunshine returning across northeast Wisconsin and noticeably more comfortable humidity. Afternoon highs will range from 75 to 81 degrees, creating favorable conditions for outdoor events, boating and travel after the wet start to the weekend.

Additional forecast updates are possible if rainfall becomes more persistent or thunderstorms become more widespread.
