La Crosse, WI – Residents south of Interstate 90 should brace for light snow and hazardous travel conditions through early Wednesday morning. Accumulations of up to half an inch are expected, creating slippery roads and reduced visibility for drivers.

According to the National Weather Service, light snow will continue into the early morning hours, with conditions expected to worsen south of La Crosse. Drivers are urged to slow down and use extra caution, particularly on untreated roadways. Wind chills could dip as low as -18 degrees, creating additional safety concerns for those traveling late Tuesday into Wednesday morning.

A hazardous weather outlook issued for the region warns of subzero temperatures persisting throughout the week. Southwest winds will begin to increase on Wednesday, with gusts up to 21 mph. This may cause drifting snow in some areas. As temperatures rebound slightly by Thursday, highs in the mid-30s will bring relief, but frigid conditions are expected to return by the weekend.

The five-day forecast shows mostly sunny skies on Wednesday, with a high of 25 degrees. Thursday and Friday will be partly sunny, with temperatures reaching 36 and 41 degrees, respectively. However, the weekend will see wind chills drop to as low as -30 degrees overnight.

Residents should monitor road conditions and limit outdoor exposure during subzero wind chills. For up-to-date forecasts and road conditions, visit 511wi.gov.
