Quad Cities, IA – Snow and frigid wind chills are causing hazardous travel conditions across eastern Iowa and western Illinois this morning. Drivers should exercise caution, as slick roads and reduced visibility are expected. Temperatures are dropping into single digits, with wind chills as low as -10°F reported overnight.

According to the National Weather Service, light snow began falling late Monday night, particularly south of Highway 30, accumulating up to half an inch in some areas. The snowfall, combined with subzero wind chills, may persist through Tuesday morning, making travel risky. Roadways, including Interstate 80 and Highway 61, are partially covered in snow, with slippery patches recorded in Davenport and Rock Island.

Forecasters warn of bitterly cold conditions continuing into Wednesday. Highs are expected to reach only 23°F, with sunny skies bringing temporary relief. However, wind chills could remain below zero in the early hours. By Thursday, temperatures may climb to 37°F, with sunny and calm weather projected through the weekend.

Travelers should check local road conditions before heading out. Residents are advised to bundle up, limit time outdoors, and prepare for icy conditions. Those commuting along Highway 30 or into the Quad Cities should allow extra travel time and ensure vehicles are equipped for winter weather.

Be sure to stay updated with the latest forecasts, as conditions can change quickly. The National Weather Service recommends reporting any snowfall totals or road hazards to help improve local alerts.
