La Crosse, WI – Light rain is expected to move through parts of southern Wisconsin, eastern Iowa, and Illinois tonight, with cooler-than-average temperatures continuing into next week.

According to the US National Weather Service La Crosse, scattered showers will begin Friday evening and taper off by sunrise Saturday. The light rain system is not expected to bring heavy accumulation but could lead to slick roads overnight, particularly in rural and low-lying areas.

Temperatures will hover in the 40s across the region through Saturday, dropping into the 20s and low 30s overnight. Sunday and Monday will continue the trend of cooler-than-average highs, ranging from the mid-30s to lower 50s, depending on location.

Drivers are advised to slow down during nighttime travel and allow extra distance in case of wet roads. Residents should plan for a chilly start to the week, especially in the mornings.

Despite the rain, no severe weather is forecast. This pattern aligns with seasonal transitions common for early April in the upper Midwest. The National Weather Service encourages staying updated through the weekend for any forecast adjustments.
