Wisconsin Spring Weather Alert: Near-Critical Fire Danger in Green Bay and Along I-43 Through Friday

Green Bay, Wisconsin – Warm, windy spring weather is setting the stage for near-critical fire danger across northeast Wisconsin through at least Friday.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, dry air and increasing northerly winds will elevate fire risk across Brown, Door, Oconto, and Shawano counties starting Wednesday. The warning includes areas along major travel routes such as Interstate 43 and U.S. Highway 41, where gusts could reach 23 mph midweek. Fire danger will remain high until at least Friday, with no rain expected and sunshine dominating the forecast.

Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning and to properly extinguish cigarettes. Spotters are also asked to report any fire activity to local law enforcement immediately.

Wednesday will bring mostly sunny skies and a high near 59°F. Winds from the north will increase to 16 mph, with gusts topping 23 mph by afternoon. The fire danger will remain elevated Thursday with sunny skies and a cooler high near 57°F. Conditions improve slightly by Friday, though the region remains vulnerable due to ongoing dry weather.
