Champaign, Illinois – Patchy spring fog may slow Wednesday’s early commute in central Illinois, but by afternoon, sunshine and near-80s will dominate.

According to the National Weather Service in Lincoln, visibility may drop below 4 miles in Champaign, Peoria, and Bloomington through 9 a.m. Wednesday. Drivers along I-57 and I-74 should be alert for low visibility conditions through the morning rush. Calm winds and saturated ground are creating ideal conditions for fog formation early in the day.

Once the fog clears, a stretch of dry, sunny weather will take hold. Wednesday’s high in Champaign is expected to reach 78°F with light west-northwest winds. The clear trend continues into Thursday and Friday, with highs in the low 70s and cooler nights dipping into the mid-40s.

Residents planning weekend outdoor activities can expect ideal spring weather. Saturday and Sunday will both be sunny, with temperatures climbing into the upper 70s. Monday may hit 82°F—the warmest day of the week.

No hazardous weather is forecast beyond Wednesday morning, and no spotter activation is expected. However, motorists should drive with caution before 9 a.m. Wednesday and use low beams in fog.
