La Crosse, WI – Travelers in southwest Wisconsin are urged to prepare for slick roads as freezing drizzle develops late Thursday into Friday morning, creating hazardous conditions along I-90 and I-94. Morning commutes could be treacherous, with icy spots forming on bridges, sidewalks, and untreated roadways.

According to the National Weather Service, patchy freezing drizzle is expected between 2 a.m. and 10 a.m. Thursday. The greatest impact will be along the I-90 and I-94 corridors. Drivers should allow extra travel time and reduce speeds, as untreated surfaces may remain icy until temperatures climb above freezing by midday Thursday.

Rain showers are forecast to follow Thursday night, with a 90% chance of precipitation extending into Friday. Friday will bring a high of 43°F, with calm winds shifting southeast. Patchy fog may reduce visibility through the morning hours.

Looking ahead to the weekend, Saturday will offer a brief reprieve with partly cloudy skies and a high near 43°F. Light rain could return by Saturday evening. Sunday will see milder temperatures, hovering in the low 40s, but mostly cloudy skies will persist.

Residents should monitor weather updates and adjust travel plans as conditions evolve. Take extra precautions if driving overnight or during the early morning hours. Stay tuned for updates from local authorities.
