Green Bay, WI – A dangerous late-season ice storm is expected to bring power outages, hazardous travel, and downed trees across parts of northern Wisconsin through Sunday evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, an Ice Storm Warning remains in effect from 7 p.m. Saturday through 7 p.m. Sunday for Lincoln, Langlade, Menominee, and Northern Oconto counties. The system is forecast to deliver ice accumulations between one-quarter and one-half inch, with some areas potentially seeing even higher totals. Snow and sleet of 1 to 3 inches are also expected.

Impacts could be widespread. Forecasters warn that travel may be nearly impossible, particularly late Saturday into Sunday. Ice-laden branches and power lines could snap under the weight, increasing the risk of outages and road closures.

Residents in affected areas — including the cities of Antigo, Tomahawk, Merrill, and Lakewood — are urged to delay travel, charge devices, and prepare emergency kits with food, water, and flashlights. Officials also advise extra caution on sidewalks, stairs, and driveways due to hidden ice hazards.

Road condition updates are available by calling 511. The storm is expected to clear Sunday night, but cleanup and restoration efforts may continue into the new week.
