Green Bay, WI – Residents across northern Wisconsin are being warned to prepare for a potentially dangerous ice storm expected to strike Saturday night and continue through Sunday evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, an Ice Storm Warning remains in effect from 7 p.m. Saturday to 7 p.m. CDT Sunday for Oneida, Forest, Florence, and Northern Marinette counties. Before that, a Winter Weather Advisory remains active until 7 a.m. Saturday, with light freezing rain bringing up to two-tenths of an inch of ice.
Starting Saturday night, conditions are expected to intensify, with ice accumulations between one-quarter and one-half inch likely, and localized areas potentially receiving more. Snow and sleet totals could also reach 1 to 3 inches. These conditions could cause widespread power outages, falling tree limbs, and nearly impossible travel through Sunday.
Authorities urge residents to avoid all unnecessary travel and prepare emergency supplies, including flashlights, food, and water. Road conditions can be monitored by dialing 511.
This late-March storm mirrors previous early spring events in Wisconsin, where lingering cold and moisture have led to severe ice conditions. Utility crews and emergency services across the region are on alert.
