Green Bay, Wis. – Warm temperatures, gusty winds, and low humidity are setting the stage for near critical fire weather conditions across much of Wisconsin this Sunday and Monday, prompting heightened concern for outdoor burning.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, southerly winds of 10 to 15 mph could gust up to 30 mph during the afternoon and early evening hours both days. Combined with humidity levels expected to drop significantly, the conditions are ripe for rapid fire spread—especially in grassy or wooded areas. A 20% chance of showers remains in the forecast for Saturday night, but dry weather will dominate until midweek.

Counties across central and northeastern Wisconsin—including Outagamie, Shawano, Brown, and Waupaca—should monitor for local burn restrictions and Red Flag Warnings. The Wisconsin DNR urges residents to check current burning rules at apps.dnr.wi.gov/forestryapps/burnrestriction and avoid activities that could spark flames, such as grilling or burning yard debris.

Low humidity may linger into Tuesday, keeping fire risk elevated before wetter weather returns late Wednesday into Friday. Updates from the NWS and local fire officials are expected if conditions worsen.
