Milwaukee, WI – A cold weather advisory remains in effect across Wisconsin as wind chills dip as low as 30 below zero. The advisory, impacting regions from Milwaukee to Green Bay, is expected to last until 10 a.m. Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), dangerously cold conditions could cause frostbite in as little as 20 to 30 minutes. Areas affected include Dane, Marathon, and Brown Counties, among others. The cold wind chills result from Arctic air combined with strong winds sweeping through the state.

Officials warn residents to take precautions, including wearing layered clothing, gloves, and hats while outdoors. Travelers are urged to limit outdoor activities and ensure exposed skin is covered.

The NWS also highlights the importance of checking on vulnerable individuals, such as the elderly or those without adequate heating. Pets should also be kept indoors during these frigid conditions.

Temperatures are expected to rise slightly later in the day, but subzero conditions will linger across much of the region through the morning. Residents are encouraged to monitor local forecasts and take necessary safety measures to avoid frostbite and hypothermia.
