Cleveland, OH – Heavy lake effect snow and gusty winds are expected to impact Northeast Ohio until 10 a.m. Thursday.

A winter weather advisory remains in effect for Ashtabula Inland, Ashtabula Lakeshore, and Lake Counties. Snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches are anticipated, with localized amounts of up to 6 inches in the Northeast Ashtabula Lakeshore area. Winds may gust as high as 45 mph.

According to the National Weather Service, snowfall will intensify overnight with rates reaching up to 1 inch per hour. This could create slippery roads and hazardous travel conditions for the Thursday morning commute. The heaviest snow is expected to shift north and east of the region by late morning before diminishing Thursday night.

Motorists are urged to drive cautiously and consider delaying non-essential travel. The Ohio Department of Transportation advises checking www.ohgo.com for updated road and traffic conditions.

Residents should prepare for possible power outages due to strong winds and falling tree branches. Snow shovels and salt should be on hand to manage icy surfaces.
