Milwaukee, WI – An Extreme Cold Warning is in effect for parts of Wisconsin starting at midnight tonight and lasting until noon Tuesday, with wind chills expected to plunge as low as 36 below zero.
According to the National Weather Service, a Cold Weather Advisory will remain in place until midnight tonight, covering counties such as Dane, Green, and Fond du Lac. Wind chills during this period could drop to 29 below zero. The most severe conditions are anticipated overnight, with frostbite possible on exposed skin within 10 minutes.
Affected areas include Madison, Milwaukee, and surrounding cities such as Janesville and Sheboygan. Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity and dress in layers, including hats, face masks, and gloves.
The dangerously low temperatures could impact travel and daily routines. Frostbite and hypothermia risks are heightened during prolonged exposure. Those in rural or open areas should take additional precautions against the extreme cold.
