Milwaukee, WI – Thick fog and mist are reducing visibility across southeast Wisconsin Thursday morning, making roadways like I-94 especially hazardous for drivers. Temperatures hovering near freezing are creating icy patches on untreated surfaces, increasing the risk of accidents.
According to the National Weather Service, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. Visibility in some areas is reduced to less than a quarter-mile, particularly south of I-94. The freezing fog line is also contributing to slick conditions, particularly along the lakefront. Commuters should exercise caution, reduce speeds, and allow extra travel time this morning.
Looking ahead, drizzle and overcast skies will persist into Friday, with patchy fog returning Thursday night. Friday brings rain showers and slightly warmer temperatures, with highs reaching 42°F. Rain is likely Friday night into Saturday, accompanied by calm southeast winds.
Saturday and Sunday will feature mostly cloudy skies, with highs near 49°F and a slight chance of additional rain showers. The weather will improve slightly early next week, with mostly dry conditions and highs in the mid-40s.
Travelers returning home from holiday celebrations should prepare for reduced visibility and changing road conditions, especially in the early morning hours. The National Weather Service advises checking weather updates regularly and ensuring vehicles are prepared for wet and potentially icy surfaces.
Stay tuned for further updates as conditions evolve throughout the weekend.
