Green Bay, WI – A blast of Arctic air will sweep into Wisconsin on Monday, bringing dangerously cold wind chills as low as 35 below zero. Residents should prepare for frigid conditions lasting through midweek.

According to the National Weather Service, a Cold Weather Advisory is in effect from 3 a.m. to noon on Monday for much of central, east-central, and northern Wisconsin. Wind gusts between 10 and 20 mph will create life-threatening wind chills, which can cause frostbite in as little as 20 minutes.

Monday will see highs near 6°F, but wind chills will make it feel much colder. By Tuesday morning, lows could drop to -7°F, with highs struggling to reach double digits.

Those heading out, especially in open areas like Green Bay and Lake Winnebago, should take extra precautions. Ice shanties should be secured ahead of gusty winds, and travelers should dress in layers with hats and gloves.

Temperatures will gradually improve late in the week, with highs reaching the low 20s by Friday. Until then, residents are urged to limit outdoor exposure and check on vulnerable individuals.
