Winter Weather Alert: Utah Braces for Heavy Snowfall Over the Weekend, 15” of Snow Possible in Areas

Salt Lake City, UT – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for portions of Utah, with significant snowfall expected to impact the Wasatch Mountains and surrounding areas from Saturday evening through Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Salt Lake City, snow will begin accumulating after 5 p.m. Saturday and continue until 5 p.m. Sunday. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 10 inches are forecast, with localized totals up to 15 inches in the upper Cottonwoods. The heaviest snowfall is expected Sunday morning, with rates potentially exceeding 2 inches per hour between 3 a.m. and noon.

The advisory extends to the Western Uinta Mountains, Central Mountains, and the Wasatch Plateau/Book Cliffs, where 4 to 8 inches of snow is anticipated. Winter driving conditions are expected throughout the region, particularly on mountain passes such as Logan Summit and Mirror Lake Highway.
