Helena, MT – A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for portions of the Elkhorn and Boulder Mountains, as well as Northwest Beaverhead County, beginning early Saturday morning.

The advisory, issued by the National Weather Service in Great Falls, will remain in effect from 3 AM to 12 PM MDT on Saturday. Wet snow is expected to fall across the region, with quick slushy snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches on mountain passes and Boulder Hill.

According to the NWS, travelers in the affected areas should prepare for slippery and slushy roads, as well as reduced visibility, particularly on mountain passes such as Big Hole Pass, Wickes, Boulder, and Homestake Pass.

The advisory covers the communities of Wise River, Chief Joseph Pass, Dewey, Corbin, Clancy, Wisdom, and Montana City.

Travelers are advised to slow down and remain cautious while driving in the area. For the latest road conditions, drivers can call 511 or visit the Montana Department of Transportation’s road report website.
