Pendleton, OR – The Cascades in Washington are set to experience significant snowfall early Monday, with accumulations of up to 10 inches expected above 4,000 feet. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory from 4 a.m. Monday until 10 a.m. Tuesday for the upper slopes of the eastern Cascades.
According to the National Weather Service, snow totals could reach 6 to 10 inches, with even heavier snowfall above 5,000 feet. Winds up to 45 mph are also anticipated, potentially leading to blowing snow and reduced visibility. These conditions could create hazardous travel in mountain passes, particularly along I-84.
Travelers are advised to check conditions before departure, allow extra distance between vehicles, and use tire chains as needed. Officials recommend visiting WSDOT and TripCheck for the latest road updates and safe travel tips.
The winter weather advisory currently categorizes the weather risk as “Minor” but warns of potential travel impacts due to the snowfall and strong winds.
