New York, NY – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for portions of New York and New Jersey until 10 a.m. Friday due to ongoing snowfall, particularly in higher elevations.

According to the National Weather Service, areas above 500 feet are expected to see total snow accumulations of 2-4 inches, with localized amounts exceeding 4 inches above 1,000 feet. Lower elevations are forecasted to receive less than 2 inches. Impacted counties include Western Passaic in New Jersey and Northern Westchester, Orange, Putnam, and Rockland in New York.

Residents and commuters should expect slippery road conditions that may affect the Friday morning commute. Heavy, wet snow could also lead to isolated tree damage and power outages. Authorities advise drivers to reduce speeds and exercise caution on roadways.

Travelers are encouraged to monitor updates from local Departments of Transportation for the latest road condition information.
