Blacksburg, VA – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for portions of north-central and northwest North Carolina, as well as south-central Virginia, from 7 a.m. Sunday to 7 p.m. Monday.
Residents in affected areas, including cities such as Eden, South Boston, Danville, Wilkesboro, and Yadkinville, should prepare for hazardous travel conditions caused by a wintry mix of precipitation.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), up to one inch of snow is expected, with ice accumulations reaching two-tenths of an inch. These conditions could result in an ice glaze across roadways, creating hazardous travel during the Monday morning and evening commutes.
The advisory urges residents to slow down and exercise caution while driving. Travelers can access real-time road conditions by dialing 511 for their state.
Local officials advise residents to prepare emergency kits, limit unnecessary travel, and stay updated on weather alerts from the NWS.
