Winchester, VA – Residents across the Mid-Atlantic should brace for hazardous winter conditions as a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from Sunday morning to early Monday. The advisory covers parts of Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia, with snow, sleet, and freezing rain expected.

According to the National Weather Service, snow and sleet accumulations may reach one inch, while ice accumulation could measure up to one-tenth of an inch. Precipitation will begin Sunday morning, transitioning to rain at lower elevations by afternoon. Higher elevations could see freezing rain persist into the night.

Hazardous travel conditions are anticipated, especially on bridges, overpasses, and untreated roads. Authorities urge drivers to slow down and use extra caution. Pedestrians should also watch for icy sidewalks and stairs.

Residents in affected areas are encouraged to check 511 for the latest road conditions. Prepare for delays, and keep emergency supplies handy in case of power outages due to icy buildup.

Stay safe during this winter storm by following weather updates and driving carefully.
