Pendleton, OR – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for several areas in northern Oregon and Washington, with significant snow and high winds expected to impact travel through Thursday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service, snow accumulations of 4 to 10 inches are forecast above 4,000 feet in the Northern Blue Mountains of Oregon and the Northwest Blue Mountains of Washington. Gusty winds of up to 45 mph may result in blowing snow, further reducing visibility. The advisory will remain active until 4 p.m. Thursday.
In the Kittitas Valley of Washington, lighter snow accumulations of up to two inches are expected, creating slippery conditions on roads through 4 a.m. Thursday. Meanwhile, areas in the Ochoco-John Day Highlands could see up to 4 inches of snow above 4,500 feet, with winds gusting up to 50 mph.
The Southern Blue Mountains of Oregon are also under advisory, with snowfall projected to reach 4 to 6 inches and similar wind conditions.
Drivers are urged to slow down and exercise caution on slick roads, particularly on bridges and overpasses. Road condition updates are available at TripCheck.com for Oregon and WSDOT’s travel site for Washington.
