Albany, NY – A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Northern and Southern Herkimer Counties, effective from 6 p.m. Monday through 1 p.m. Tuesday. Residents should prepare for accumulating snow and slippery road conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, snowfall totals of 3 to 5 inches are expected, with higher amounts likely in elevated areas. The heaviest snowfall is anticipated between midnight and 7 a.m. Tuesday. The snow is expected to taper off to lighter showers by late Tuesday morning.

Travel conditions are likely to become hazardous, especially on bridges, overpasses, and untreated roadways. Drivers are advised to reduce speeds and exercise caution during the advisory period, particularly during the Tuesday morning commute.

For updated road conditions, residents can dial 511. Those venturing outdoors are urged to be mindful of icy steps, sidewalks, and driveways, which could increase the risk of slips and falls.
