Pendleton, OR – A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for the East Slopes of the Oregon Cascades, with heavy snowfall and strong winds expected from Thursday evening through Saturday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Pendleton, total snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches are possible, with the heaviest snowfall occurring above 4,000 to 4,500 feet. Wind gusts could reach up to 40 mph, further reducing visibility and making travel hazardous.

The storm will bring fluctuating snow levels, beginning at around 4,000 feet Thursday night, rising to 5,000 feet Friday afternoon, and then lowering to 3,000 feet or below by Friday night. The combination of heavy snow, strong winds, and low visibility may create dangerous driving conditions.

Officials urge travelers to prepare for winter driving conditions and stay updated with the latest forecasts.
