Aberdeen, SD – A winter storm continues to disrupt travel in South Dakota and Minnesota, with up to 7 inches of snow and hazardous conditions expected through 10 p.m. CDT. The National Weather Service has issued Winter Storm Warnings for multiple counties, warning of difficult travel through Wednesday.

Heavy snow and ice accumulations are forecast, with up to 7 inches of snow expected in some areas, including parts of Aberdeen, Sisseton, and Watertown. Winds gusting up to 40 mph will create blowing snow and reduced visibility, making driving particularly hazardous. Ice buildup on roads and overpasses could lead to dangerous conditions, especially for evening and morning commutes.

Travel could be nearly impossible, especially in central and northeastern South Dakota and western Minnesota. The storm is impacting areas such as Milbank, Britton, and Ortonville.

The National Weather Service urges motorists to delay non-essential travel and to be prepared for slippery roads. If travel is necessary, drivers should carry emergency supplies, including a flashlight, food, and water, and check road conditions at 511mn.org or by calling 511.
