Medford, OR – A winter storm warning remains in effect for Siskiyou County, California, with heavy snow and strong winds expected to continue through Tuesday afternoon. Snow accumulations of up to 2 feet are possible above 3500 feet, while areas below 3500 feet could see up to 8 inches of snow.

According to the National Weather Service, the warning is in place for elevations above 3500 feet, including the Mount Shasta highlands, Medicine Lake, and the Klamath, Salmon, and Trinity mountains. A winter weather advisory is also in effect for areas below 3500 feet, including Mount Shasta City, Dunsmuir, and McCloud. Snow began accumulating Monday evening and is expected to continue into Tuesday, with hazardous conditions impacting both the Tuesday morning and afternoon commutes.

Travel conditions are expected to be very difficult, especially along major highways such as I-5 and Highway 89. Wind gusts could reach up to 50 mph, potentially making travel near impossible in some areas. Drivers are advised to exercise caution, slow down, and prepare for disruptions.
