Paducah, KY – Winter weather is taking a dangerous turn in western Kentucky as heavy snow and an arctic blast set in for the week. Overnight snowfall will transition into freezing temperatures, creating treacherous road conditions across the region.
According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until Monday morning, with snow accumulations of 1 to 2 inches expected. Gusty winds up to 35 mph will reduce visibility and cause icy conditions, particularly on bridges and overpasses. Residents should avoid unnecessary travel and prepare for hazardous roadways.
By Tuesday afternoon, another round of accumulating snow is likely, with wind chills near or below zero through Friday. The Ohio and Green Rivers remain at risk of flooding, and widespread river flooding could develop.
Temperatures will struggle to reach above freezing, with daytime highs in the low 30s and nighttime lows dropping into the teens. Bitter cold and strong winds will make conditions even more dangerous.
Travelers should check road conditions before heading out and dress in layers to prevent frostbite. For the latest updates, visit weather.gov/pah.
