Wilmington, OH – A powerful winter storm is set to hit Ohio this week, bringing snow, ice, and dangerously cold temperatures. Residents should prepare for hazardous travel conditions and bitter wind chills.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Wilmington, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until Sunday evening, with snowfall up to 2 inches and wind gusts as high as 40 mph. A Flood Watch remains in place due to heavy rain transitioning into snow, increasing the risk of ice accumulation and slippery roads.

By Monday (Washington’s Birthday), expect a high of 23°F with partly sunny skies, but temperatures will plummet overnight to single digits. Wind chills could drop below zero, making outdoor exposure dangerous. Snow chances increase again Tuesday night and Wednesday, with highs struggling to reach 20°F.

Drivers should use extreme caution, especially on I-71 and local highways. Officials urge residents to check road conditions via ohgo.com before traveling. Those in flood-prone areas should stay alert for updates.

Cold weather will persist through the week, with lows in the teens and highs barely reaching freezing. Stay prepared and limit time outdoors.
