Winnipeg, MB – A 36-year-old man was stabbed following a confrontation on a Winnipeg transit bus, police said. The incident unfolded on October 6 at around 8:50 p.m. near St. Mary’s Road and Vivian Street.

According to the Winnipeg Police Service, the victim was traveling southbound on the bus when multiple suspects boarded at Marion Street. The group entered into a verbal dispute with the victim, which escalated into a physical assault. The altercation spilled outside in the 200 block of St. Mary’s Road, where one of the suspects allegedly stabbed the man in the upper body.

The victim, aided by a passerby, re-entered the bus, where he received initial assistance from a Good Samaritan. He was then transported to a hospital in an unstable condition but was later reported as stable. The suspects fled on foot before officers arrived.

Police confirmed the suspects and the victim were previously unacquainted. The Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation, but no arrests have been made. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Winnipeg Police or Crime Stoppers.
