
Winnipeg, Manitoba – A fatal accident on the Harry Lazarenko Bridge, commonly known as the Redwood Bridge, resulted in the death of a 49-year-old Winnipeg woman early Saturday morning.
According to the Winnipeg Police Service, officers responded to a call at approximately 1:45 a.m. regarding an injured person on the bridge. The woman was found lying on the ground with serious injuries after being struck by a westbound vehicle. Members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service attended to the victim, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police stated that the adult driver involved in the collision remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The Traffic Division’s Collision Investigation Section has taken over the investigation and confirmed the identity of the deceased. Notifications have been made to the woman’s family.
Authorities are urging anyone with information or dash camera footage of the incident to contact the Winnipeg Police Traffic Division or Crime Stoppers. The investigation remains ongoing as police work to determine the circumstances leading to the accident.
