Winnipeg, MB – A 74-year-old man was hospitalized following an alleged unprovoked assault outside Seven Oaks General Hospital on December 3. Winnipeg police arrested a suspect two days later.

According to the Winnipeg Police Service, officers responded to the hospital at approximately 5:17 p.m. after security personnel reported the attack. The elderly victim had sustained serious upper-body injuries after being pushed to the ground, striking his head on the sidewalk. He was treated and stabilized in the hospital.

Police investigations revealed the suspect approached the victim near the hospital’s urgent care entrance. Without provocation, the suspect allegedly attacked, leaving the victim unconscious. Authorities say the suspect fled on foot before police arrived.

On December 5, officers located and arrested 30-year-old Patee Hae Htoo during an unrelated call. He faces assault charges and an outstanding warrant from the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).

Htoo remains in custody, and the CBSA has been notified of his detention.

Police urge witnesses or anyone with information about the incident to contact them.
