Winnipeg Boy Critically Injured in Violent Assault, 15-Year-Old Suspect Charged

Winnipeg, MB – A 15-year-old male from Winnipeg is in custody following a violent altercation that left another male youth critically injured on Saturday. The incident occurred on August 10 at approximately 11:00 p.m. on the 300 block of Selkirk Avenue. Police responded to reports of a stabbing and discovered the victim suffering from severe injuries.

According to the Winnipeg Police Service, members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service swiftly transported the victim to the hospital, where he was initially listed in critical condition. His condition has since stabilized. Officers from the Tactical Support Team (TST) and the K9 Unit located the suspect shortly after in the 300 block of Flora Avenue.

The investigation revealed that the two youths were strangers and became involved in a dispute that escalated into violence. The victim was knocked to the ground, kicked, punched, and struck multiple times with a machete, resulting in life-altering injuries.

The 15-year-old suspect faces several charges, including aggravated assault, robbery, possession of a weapon, and failure to comply with a probation order. The Major Crimes Unit continues to investigate and urges anyone with information to come forward.
