Winfield, Ill. — The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) has started the Roosevelt Road resurfacing project this week, Winfield Village Trustee Dan Janowick shared. The work will begin on County Farm Road in Wheaton and stretch through Winfield into West Chicago.

The resurfacing project was announced by the IDOT in a press release on May 5 with plans to begin the project May 12.

The Roosevelt project is budgeted for $8.6 million to resurface the 6.6-mile section of the road. The project will resurface the road, modernize traffic signals and add new ADA-compliant ramps for sidewalks. The project is projected to be finished in November of this year.

Delays should be expected and the IDOT encouraged drivers to take alternative routes.

The Roosevelt Road resurfacing project is part of the IDOT’s Rebuild Illinois project. The goal is to improve more than 3,200 miles of highway and almost 9 million square feet of bridge deck over the next six years. The project would invest $32.2 billion into better public transportation.
