Rainelle, WV – The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory and a Cold Weather Advisory for Western Greenbrier County, effective Friday afternoon and evening, as dangerous weather conditions are expected.
According to the National Weather Service, the Wind Advisory will be in effect from 4 p.m. Friday until 7 a.m. Saturday, with northwest winds of 15 to 25 mph and gusts reaching 40 to 50 mph. The Cold Weather Advisory will follow from 7 p.m. Friday through 7 a.m. Sunday, warning of wind chills dropping as low as 12 degrees below zero.
Forecasters caution that these conditions could cause power outages, frostbite, and hypothermia. Residents are urged to secure outdoor objects, dress warmly in layers, and ensure pets are kept indoors.
Officials also recommend checking on vulnerable neighbors and using portable heaters with care. High-profile vehicles may experience difficulty driving due to the strong winds.
