Chicago, IL – Chicagoland residents are preparing for brutal cold this week, with wind chill temperatures expected to drop to -20°F. The National Weather Service warns of bitterly cold conditions starting Wednesday afternoon and continuing through Thursday morning.

According to forecasters, wind chills could range from -10°F to -20°F, with daytime highs hovering between 15°F and 20°F on Thursday. Overnight lows will dip into single digits, and northwesterly winds of 30-40 mph may worsen conditions. Snow showers are expected Wednesday afternoon, with icy roads creating hazardous travel during peak commute times.

Residents are advised to dress in multiple layers and limit outdoor exposure. Travel may require extra precautions, as slippery roads and low visibility are likely. Temperatures are expected to rebound slightly on Friday, though a wintry mix could bring additional challenges.

This Arctic blast marks one of the season’s first significant cold snaps. Be prepared by winterizing vehicles, securing outdoor decorations, and staying updated on weather alerts.
