Pendleton, OR – A freezing fog advisory remains in effect for Northern Oregon, including Pendleton and the I-84 corridor, until noon Tuesday. Residents are urged to prepare for low visibility and potentially hazardous driving conditions. Visibility may drop to as little as a quarter-mile in some areas.
According to the National Weather Service, the freezing fog will dissipate by early afternoon, leading to partly sunny skies and a high near 32°F. However, drivers should use extreme caution, particularly along I-84, as slick roads could persist even after the fog lifts. Slow down, use headlights, and maintain a safe following distance.
The weather outlook grows more active later in the week. Wednesday will see mostly cloudy skies and a high near 36°F. Snow is expected to develop Wednesday night, with elevations as low as 1,800 feet seeing accumulation. A rain-snow mix is likely Thursday, as temperatures hover near 37°F.
Conditions improve briefly Friday, with partly sunny skies and a high near 44°F. However, another chance of snow and rain returns Friday night, keeping roads potentially slick into the weekend.
Motorists should stay updated on weather conditions and consider delaying travel during periods of low visibility or heavy precipitation. For the latest road updates, visit the Oregon Department of Transportation’s website.
