Grand Rapids, MI – A wind advisory remains in effect for all of lower Michigan today, with sustained west winds of 20 to 25 mph and gusts reaching up to 45 mph, as announced by the National Weather Service. The advisory will remain in effect until 3 PM EDT this afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, the wind conditions will affect central, south-central, and southwest Michigan, including cities like Kalamazoo, Jackson, Battle Creek, and Lansing. Gusty winds may cause unsecured objects to be blown around, and there is a risk of tree limbs falling and possible power outages.

Residents are urged to secure outdoor objects to prevent damage. Drivers, particularly those with high-profile vehicles, are advised to exercise caution, as the gusty winds may make driving difficult. The advisory also extends to areas in northern Michigan, where similar wind conditions may result in hazards for outdoor work and travel.

For those in areas still recovering from previous ice storms, the National Weather Service also cautioned about the increased risk of fallen tree limbs, especially in parts of Northern Lower Michigan.
