Williamson County, IL – A man with an active arrest warrant was taken into custody Monday after deputies responded to a reported disturbance in a residential area of Whiteash, according to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were dispatched Monday, January 19, to the 200 block of Sanders Avenue for a disturbance call. While en route, dispatch advised that one of the involved individuals, identified as Larry D. Sanders, had an active warrant issued out of Williamson County.

Authorities said Sanders had previously been listed as a subject of the sheriff’s office “Warrant Wednesday” alert on January 14, 2026.

Deputies reported observing Sanders standing in the front yard of the residence upon arrival. According to officials, Sanders allegedly fled on foot as deputies approached, entering the home through a rear entrance.

Deputies were then advised that Sanders was concealing himself inside the residence. Officials stated that consent was granted by the resident for deputies to enter the home. Sanders was subsequently located hiding inside a bedroom closet and taken into custody without further incident.

According to the sheriff’s office, Sanders was issued the following citations:

  • Obstructing Justice, a Class 4 felony
  • Resisting Arrest, a Class A misdemeanor

Both charges are violations of Illinois Compiled Statutes.

Sanders was transported to and remanded into the custody of the Williamson County Jail. No injuries were reported.
