Romeoville, IL – Isle a la Cache Museum in Romeoville will host a new traveling exhibit, Indige-Facts, from Sept. 21 to Dec. 8. The exhibit offers a fresh perspective on contemporary Native American life in the United States, aiming to educate and inform visitors.
Created by the Mitchell Museum of the American Indian, Indige-Facts explores questions often asked about Native Americans. The exhibit covers terminology, citizenship, reservation life, and the rights of Indigenous people. Two new panels highlight recent Illinois laws protecting Native peoples and the recognition of a federally recognized Tribe within the state.
The museum will also host two programs tied to the exhibit. The first, “No One Ever Sees Indians – Native Americans in Media,” will take place on Saturday, Sept. 21, at 1 p.m. The second program, “Potawatomi Beadwork for Beginners,” will be held Thursday, Nov. 14, at 6 p.m. Registration is required for both.
