Will County, IL – A variety of free and family-friendly events, including Father’s Day fishing, mobile book clubs, and outdoor bingo, are coming to the Will County Forest Preserves during the week of June 10.
Residents of all ages can enjoy interactive outdoor experiences at local preserves, with highlights including free fishing all weekend, evening food truck gatherings, and community events designed for teens, seniors, and families.
According to the Forest Preserve District of Will County, the week kicks off Tuesday with “These Books Are Made for Walkin’,” a 6 p.m. mobile book club stroll at Four Rivers Environmental Education Center in Channahon. On Wednesday, teens can “Plug Into Nature” at Plum Creek in Crete Township from 1-2:30 p.m., and adults 21+ can head to Hickory Creek in Mokena from 6-8 p.m. for BYOB Bingo.
Thursday offers a “Spa Discovery Day for Seniors” from 8:30-10 a.m. at Plum Creek. The $5 program includes sensory nature activities and calming spa-style treatments. Registration is required.
Father’s Day weekend kicks off Friday, June 13, with Free Fishing Days at Monee Reservoir (6 a.m.-7 p.m.) and Hidden Lakes Trout Farm in Bolingbrook (10 a.m.-4 p.m.). These sites offer giveaways, free bait for dads, and fishing without a license through Sunday.
Also Friday at Whalon Lake in Naperville, guests can enjoy “Critter Command Post” and “Fun & Food Trucks” from 5-8 p.m. featuring food vendors, live music, and nature exploration.
Saturday’s offerings include “Crochet for Wildlife” from 10 a.m.-noon at Hidden Lakes and the late-night “Midnight Madness” fishing event at Monee Reservoir from 7 p.m. to midnight.
