Joliet, IL – Joliet police are investigating a weekend shooting that left an 18-year-old man hospitalized with life-threatening injuries Saturday evening.
According to the Joliet Police Department, officers responded at approximately 6:46 p.m. Saturday, July 11, 2026, to the area of East Benton Street and Polson Place after receiving reports of a person who had been shot.
When officers arrived, they located an 18-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds to his back and left arm. Officers immediately rendered medical aid until paramedics with the Joliet Fire Department arrived.
The victim was transported to Silver Cross Hospital with life-threatening injuries before later being transferred to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood for additional treatment.
According to police, officers secured the scene while detectives and crime scene investigators conducted an extensive canvass of the area. Investigators recovered spent shell casings as part of the ongoing investigation.
Authorities have not released any suspect information, and the circumstances leading up to the shooting remain under active investigation.
